An even week for the North Sea herring, a little better for mackerel up north, - and the sand eel season is over.
The mackerel sums up to a total value of 1,7 billion NOK, composing 205.000 tonnes.
Norwegian fishermen traded catches of a total value of 4,75 billion NOK in 2009, while foreign fishermen traded 187.000 tonnes of pelagic fish, amounted to 950 billion NOK.
Of a total Norwegian seafood export valued to 44,7 billion NOK, Norwegian pelagic species sum to 8 billion of the total value.
The North Sea herring fisheries in progress, but results do not reflect the efforts made. The very first catches of matjes herring have been displayed in Egersund.
