Reduced volumes for all species. THE COURSE OF THE FISHERIES AS PER 22nd OF MARCH

Reduced volumes for all species.

Atlanto Scandic herring

The fishing was also this week gradually reduced and the week’s total was 3.300 MT.

The market interest is very limited for consumption purposes due to the low fat content at this time of the year.

Capelin in the Barents Sea

The catching this week resulted in some 43.000 MT. The fishing was performed both at the westerly fields and further east from the Syltefjord to Tana. The maturity is now at a level where the industry has stopped the female capelin production to concentrate on roe production. The price level has increased significantly and varies from NOK 1,80 to 3,30. Three vessels chose to deliver in Iceland and here the price was NOK 3,30.

Blue whiting

The week’s quantity amounted to 7.600 MT. The fishing has been performed in an area from Porcupine and northwards towards St. Kilda. Almost everything is sold for consumption purposes, but prices are reduced and have varied between NOK 1,80 and 2,20.
