A week dominated by “lot of weather” at the capelin fields, - fairly good for the blue whiting, - and not so good for the herring in Rogaland.
Also last week the weather hampered the activity, and just close to 31.000 MT were the outcome for capelin. Some 8.000 MT were sold for meal&oil, while 23.000 MT were sold for consumption. The production comprised both mixed, female capelin and roe pressing. The status when it comes to quotas; 29.500 MT remain.
The catching has been carried out along the entire coast of Finnmark last week, from Varanger to the area of Hjelmsøy. By the end of the week, the majority of vessels was in the Honningsvåg area and further west.
The price levels for consumption has varied from NOK 1,80 to 2,79 with an average of NOK 2,35/kg. For meal&oil; prices from NOK 1,32 (minimum) to 2,27. Average: NOK 1,89/kg.
While there was no reporting of blue whiting during week no 10, 13 catches were reported last week amounting to 6.000 MT. The main part has been caught in international waters and 12 catches were sold in Killybegs and one in Peter Head. The prices are “comfortable”; NOK 4,24 at the lowest and with NOK 4,96 as the very best. Average; NOK 4,64/kg.
Atlanto Scandic herring
Last week the catching of Atlanto Scandic herring in Rogaland came out with just close to 1.000 MT. The reports tell of sparse with herring now, indicating that the catching sees the end this season.
