The herring fisheries most important last week - last week’s yield was not to complain about despite the hurricane “Berit’s” threat and ravaging. Atlanto Scandic herring (Nw Spring Spawning herring)
Even if the week’s accumulated volume was “just” 30.000 MT - or 50 % of the previous week’s volume, there is no reason to be discontent. And even if the quantity was less, new records were set; last week by the price of NOK 7,37. Further north on the coast, herring is caught as far as in outer Malangen, with both coastal vessels and purse seiners fishing. But the coastal herring is smaller than the herring caught in high seas with an average of 265-300 g. For filet purposes this herring should be very suitable. In open seas the fishing is performed in areas north of 69 º N and east of 9 º E and beyond to the “Tromsøflaket” at 72 º N and 16-17 º E. - Average price of the week; NOK 6,87.

450 MT of mackerel were sold over the auction last week. Two foreign trawlers delivered this mackerel. One of the catches was delivered in Norway and the other one in Peter Head. The mackerel was caught just west of Scotland.

Coastal sprat
In the Oslofjord four good catches were taken of fairly good size fish accumulated at 120 MT. Average size; 43-48 pcs/kg., and all catches were sold to Astrid in Sweden.

Ocean sprat
Two catches have been landed totaling 880 MT of ocean sprat last week. Two foreigners reported these catches from the area Cleaver bank: The fish was delivered for reduction purposes.
