The course of fisheries as per week 14/2018
Another good week for blue whiting.
Fishing operations 2-3 days hampered by weather. Still a fairly high volume has been registered of mackerel and herring last week.
Last week 26.200 MT of mackerel were registered. Most of it; 22.500 MT were registered from foreign vessels. The operations have been going on west of Shetland, - close to shore.
Norwegian North Sea trawlers have the last couple of days also started their catching of mackerel.
Atlanto Scandic herring
The catching of Atlanto Scandic herring has last week been performed in the Nw zone between 64°N and 65°30'N. The herring is still of good size with an average weight at 370 g. Last week 10.700 MT were registered.
The participation is increasing as several vessels now are joining.
North Sea herring
1.200 MT were registered last week. The catches have mainly been made in the EU zone close to "Fladen".
Blue whiting/Norway pout/ and other species
Of industrial species 2.800 MT were registered last week, of which 165 MT were horse mackerel and 824 MT blue whiting.
Several vessels are in fact now chasing the horse mackerel, but so far without any luck.
From Sogn (county) 30 MT were registered last week.
Pelagia is established in Skagen, Denmark, producing marinated herring.
This season’s best week for blue whiting – and the capelin quota, close to be taken.
On April 3, 2018, the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA) will introduce new booking regulations for ordering marine pilots. The regulations will thus be formalized and merged into one set ? Regulations on Compulsory Pilotage.
The season for capelin in the Barents Sea towards an end, but still high activity for blue whiting – if weather is cooperative.
