Strong northerly winds affected fishing last week.

North Sea Herring:
After a period of bad weather, several boats chose to head out Friday evening when the northerly wind appeared to ease toward Saturday. Unfortunately, there was only one fishing day, as the wind picked up again Saturday evening—this time from the southeast.

Only two catches were reported on Saturday, totaling 92 tons of North Sea herring. Fishing took place both north on Viking Bank and near Oseberg, with some boats operating further south in the North Sea.

We are now hoping for a weather window so the fleet can resume fishing.

Blue Whiting:
A total of 1,452 tons of blue whiting were delivered this week, from one boat in the Faroese zone and three catches from the edge. The edge boats also brought in 101 tons of sprat.

Sandeel:
A Swedish sandeel trawler reported one catch of 670 tons during the week.

Mackerel:
Mackerel fishing for the smallest coastal fleet was also affected by the strong northerly wind. Nevertheless, 41 tons were delivered to the fresh auction and another 27 tons directly for freezing.
